I talked to my father and discovered the reason he's emotional neglectful is because instead of processing his emotions he simply throws them away instead of letting himself feel. Even though he caused me agony and quite a few issues I can't envy his peace. As it's an empty life half lived.

Today I realized that my father uses deflection whenever I try to bring up important topics with him. Specifically he'll respond in a way that seems chosen to deflect my own question in way that pushes the conversation to end by me a agreeing to a tangentially related aspect.

(Vent) I tried bringing up issues multiple times to my father and there zero real reaction. It doesn't matter if it's a heath scare or reaching an emotional breaking point. He'd never ask questions about my feelings or want to help me understand why things have gotten to that point!
